Minimally Invasive Varicose Vein Procedures like RFA, Glue, Laser and Sclerotherapy

Varicose veins occur when the valves within the veins weaken, causing blood to pool and veins to enlarge or become twisted, often leading to pain, swelling, and heaviness in the legs. To safely and effectively treat varicose veins, we at Lords Hospital offer innovative, minimally invasive procedures like Sclerotherapy, Venous Glue Closure, Endovenous Laser Treatment (EVLT), and Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA).

These advanced techniques are performed using keyhole access and imaging guidance, eliminating the need for traditional open surgery.

Detailed Treatment Plan

01

Diagnostic Evaluation

Before recommending any treatment, each patient undergoes a comprehensive vascular assessment that includes:

  • Duplex Ultrasound Scanning to map the affected veins and assess blood flow.
  • Clinical Evaluation for symptoms such as swelling, pain, or skin changes.
  • Customized Treatment Planning based on vein anatomy, severity, and patient goals.

02

Choice of Procedure

Each of these methods is performed under local anesthesia and typically completed within 30 to 60 minutes.

  • Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA):
A thin catheter is inserted into the diseased vein, and controlled heat energy seals the vein shut. The closed vein is naturally absorbed by the body, improving circulation.
  • Endovenous Laser Treatment (EVLT):
A laser fiber is guided through the vein, delivering precise laser energy to collapse and seal the vein wall.
  • Venous Glue Closure:
A medical-grade adhesive is injected into the affected vein to close it immediately, without the need for heat or anesthesia.
  • Sclerotherapy:
A specialized solution is injected into small or surface-level veins to make them collapse and fade over time.

03

Post-Procedure Care

Every patient is carefully assessed to ascertain eligibility and to devise the best course of action:

  • Patients are encouraged to walk immediately after the procedure.
  • Compression stockings are prescribed to support healing and prevent recurrence.
  • Follow-up ultrasound examinations are scheduled to confirm vein closure.
  • Most patients can return to normal activities within 24–48 hours.
